Tailor Made Plate Condenser
A Plate surface condenser designed for condensation under vacuum. AlfaCond is based on Alfa Laval’s semi-welded technology. Vapor condenses in the welded channel while the cooling medium passes through the gasketed channel. In addition to stainless steel, the plates are also available in titanium, which makes it possible to use sea water as a cooling medium.
A plate surface condenser is a type of heat exchanger used in various industrial applications, particularly in power plants and other facilities where the condensation of steam is required. It is designed to condense vapor into liquid by transferring heat from the vapor to a cooling medium.
The basic structure of a plate surface condenser consists of a series of metal plates arranged in a way that creates a network of channels. These plates are typically made of materials with good thermal conductivity, such as stainless steel. The vapor (usually steam) flows between the plates, while a cooling medium, often water, flows on the other side of the plates.
As the hot vapor comes into contact with the cold plate surfaces, heat is transferred from the vapor to the plates, causing the vapor to condense into a liquid. The condensed liquid is then collected and can be further processed or reused.
Plate surface condensers offer several advantages, including compact design, high heat transfer efficiency, and ease of maintenance. They are commonly used in power plants, refrigeration systems, chemical processing plants, and other industrial settings where efficient heat exchange is crucial.
